There is a new way to determine NCAA Tournament bids
[lawrence-related id=2068]
The NCAA Tournament selection committee has made some changes to how they select teams. Gone are the days of only using RPI only to determine fine team is worthy. (Read our intro here)
These changes weigh road and home games differently and four RPI groups, plus KenPom, RPI and BPI are metrics, too.
RPI Group 1: Home (1-30) | Neutral (1-50) | Away (1-75) |
RPI Group 2: Home (31-75) | Neutral (51-100) | Away (76-135) |
RPI Group 3: Home (76-160 | Neutral (101-200) | Away (136-240) |
RPI Group 4: Home (161-351) | Neutral (201-351) | Away (241-351) |
There were no games on Thursday or Friday night in the Mountain West so today’s movement will be very limited. However, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his latest bracket on Thursday and he has two Mountain West teams in the field.
Boise State is the very last team to in bracket and are placed in, yet another, play-in game opening round game in Dayton and are scheduled to play USC as an 11 seed.
The other is Nevada who is an eight seed and pitted up against Missouri out of the SEC.
This is good news that two teams are getting considered, and if UNLV, Wyoming and San Diego State keep winning that could potentially get a third team in the mix, or at least strengthen the Mountain West as a two-bid league.
The order below is alphabetically. (You may need to scroll to the right to see all the rankings)
