A new week means new bowl guesses

Now that Week 9 is in the books there will be some shakeups in the bowl projections this week. There are now four official bowl-eligible teams after Boise State earned its first-ever victory at the Air Force Academy.

Hawaii has been stuck at six wins for the past three games and things do not look any easier as they host Utah State next week so it may not be until they host the struggling UNLV Rebels on Nov. 17.

Nevada stole a win against San Diego State to drastically improve its bowl chances. The Wolf Pack are 5-4 and still have winnable games to end the season against Colorado State, San Jose State, and UNLV.

Wyoming needed to win its final four games to be bowl eligible, and they got the first win of that stretch against Colorado State. According to ESPN’s FPI, the Cowboys are favored against San Jose State and New Mexico with the Air Force game being a virtual toss-up at 49.9 percent change for Wyoming to get the win.

Air Force is in the same boat as Wyoming but has four games left. They are in a toss-up with the Cowboys and favored in two other games against New Mexico and Colorado State. The lone underdog game for the Falcons is the rivalry game at Army. Also to consider for the Falcons is that they are the first choice to be taken as a 5-7 team due to APR (Northwestern is No. 1 in APR but they already bowl eligible).

In the meantime, we will add Air Force to go along with Fresno State, Nevada, Boise State, Hawaii, Utah State and San Diego State as the bowl teams this week for the Mountain West.
