Who was the best and what were the best stories?
The Mountain West is in midst of its 20 years of competition and the league has gone through so many ups and downs with successes and failures during that time.
With the league at the 20-year mark, we have decided to take a look back at the two decades of the conference starting in January.
We will be doing some fun and great things over the next few months starting with football and then moving into basketball content once the current season wraps.
Below are the topics we plan to cover for the first part of 2019, yes this will include former Mountain West teams during its time in the conference:
- All-time Mountain West football and basketball teams.
- All-time Mountain West football and basketball teams per school.
- Ranking all of the coaches.
- Top 10 games for each school all-time in football and basketball.
- Top 100 games all-time in football and basketball (crossing our fingers on this one).
- 32-team bracket in football and basketball to decide the best team ever using a variety of methods to determine what team is the best ever.
- There will be a podcast element of sorts with those who have covered the league for a very long time.
- Mountain West expansion over the years. Both hits, misses, and what-ifs.
- How the league came to be formed after breaking away from the WAC.
- The rise and fall of the Mtn. network (spoiler: was ahead of its time and changed college sports as we know it.)
- How the league crashed the BCS and create changes.
- The Mountain West technically was a BCS league at one point.
- Team-specific content through the years.
- And a whole lot more.
This will be a fun journey to go done and hopefully, everyone will enjoy this. I have followed the league in some form since 2003 when I was at the University of Utah, so a lot of this will be new to me prior to that.
Look for this series to begin in the middle of January and follow this link to keep up with all of the updates. If there are any stories you want us to hit on let us know and we can research and add them to the list — through twitter.
