Seven teams are going bowling
The Mountain West will have seven bowl-eligible teams for the postseason. San Jose State could have made it eight but they were crushed, 40-9, to Fresno State.
As of now there is one more bowl-eligible team than spots for a bowl game which means a six-win Group of Five team will be left out, as Brett McMurphy of the Action Network notes.

Within the Mountain West, that could mean that Wyoming might not be going to a bowl game as they are the only team from the conference to have just six wins.
Among the entire Group of Five these are the teams that have six wins.
- Memphis
- Tulsa
- Old Dominion
- Middle Tennessee State
- North Texas
- Miami (OH)
- Ball State
One of those teams or the Cowboys will be left out of the postseason. The Mountain West has six bowl tie-ins, so there is a chance Wyoming could be that team on the outside looking in.
