GAME ONE: Wyoming takes down San Jose State 111-80
If you like scoring, odds are you enjoyed tuning into this game. We saw SJSU’s Achilles heel cause problems once again, as the struggling interior defense allowed Wyoming freshman Graham Ike scored 32 points on 12/14 shooting from-the-field. SJSU’s interior got shortened even more following this incident leading to a Ralph Agee ejection.
The rough season comes to a close for Coach Prioleau, while Jeff Linder’s Cowboys carry onto San Diego State tomorrow
Wyoming also set a Mountain West tournament record by scoring 111 points in regulation.
GAME TWO: UNLV decimates Air Force, 80-52
The game was never particularly close, UNLV’s stars did what they do, David Jenkins Jr.led all scorers with 21 points, Bryce Hamilton added 18 points on 8-13 shooting. It was close in the first 10 or so minutes before UNLV went on a crazy 23-2 run to round out the first half.
It was more of the same in the second half, UNLV cruised to a 28-point victory. And tomorrow, UNLV faces #2 seed Utah State, trying to continue their season.
Funny enough, UNLV already defeated Utah State earlier in the season. Let’s see if a little Deja Vu is in store, this time in the conference tournament.
GAME THREE: Fresno State takes down New Mexico 85-77
It was a rough year from start-to-finish for New Mexico, not being able to play/or practice in their home state well before the season even started, The Lobos were doomed for a rough season. Eventually resulting in Paul Weir & New Mexico parting ways.
Fresno State stays hot as Deon Stroud drops 18 points on 8/12 shooting, We’ve seen the Bulldogs pull off stunners this season, beating Boise State, nearly beating Utah State, and seemingly always being in ball-games could make for a surprise run in the Mountain West tournament.
If Stroud & Orlando Robinson continue playing the way they’ve been the past month, Fresno State could play spoiler. Tomorrow, they try ending Colorado State’s at-large bid dreams for the NCAA Tournament, a tough task without a doubt.
If Deon Stroud continues throwing down insane dunks like this though, who knows what can happen.
What a jam! We’ll see if we get more of that tomorrow after today’s win.
Tomorrow should be a more stacked day with the top-four seeds entering the tournament.
