Who is the better bettor?

Now that you guys have chosen which bet you’re going to make, let’s take a look at the bets involved in this weeks challenge.

Here’s a reminder of how this is going to work for the rest of the season. The odds post will come out each week and I’ll make what I believe to be the best bets for each game. Four of the bets will be picked and we’ll tweet out a poll for you guys to choose which bet you believe is most likely to win. I’ll pick one of the other bets and each week we’ll recap the head to head as well as how each team did at the sportsbook. In the event of a cancellation of a game that was bet on, the next highest chosen bet will be made in its place.

The original choice for this week’s challenge was San Jose State to cover 2.5. However, that match up with Fresno State got cancelled. So the next choice in the poll, with a match up that is still going to happen is Nevada/San Diego State. The readers have chosen the under for that matchup and I chose the under in the New Mexico/Air Force match up.

San diego state/nevada under

I like this pick. It’s a “I too like to live dangerously” pick. Nevada has a high powered offense that can score. And San Diego State isn’t a slouch either on offense. Both teams are averaging over 30 points a game on offense. The Aztecs are a ground and pound offense, averaging 280 yards a game on offense. And the Wolf Pack are the opposite, with an air raid offense averaging over 380 yards a game through the air.

This game is going to come down to defense. San Diego State is giving up just 243.5 yards of offense per game, while Nevada is giving up 317.8 yards per game. If both defenses hold, this game will come down to wire on this pick.

new mexico/air force under

This game is going to be interesting. Air Force is coming off a two week “break”. And New Mexico gets it’s first real challenge on the ground. The Lobos offense has looked dangerous with Tevaka Tuioti under center. This week he’s a game time decision because of a concussion.

Air Force is going to be the real wild card here. The Falcons will be seeing their first action after missing two weeks due to COVID issues. If the Falcons are healthy, they can control the tempo of this game. The total seems really high for this matchup against a rushing team and a team that statistically controls the ground on defense. I like the under and think the Falcons will control the pace.
