Who gets the honors?
– Offensive player of the year | Defensive player of the year
– Coach of the year | Freshman of the year | Coordinator of the year
– Special teams player of the year | Newcomer of the year
Before the Mountain West football championship kicks off in Boise this Saturday, our staff has put their heads together to determine who deserves recognition as part of our postseason all-conference teams.
Unlike our preseason all-conference nods, the postseason choices mostly reflect the conference media’s own first-team and second-team voting process. The biggest difference is that we select three wide receivers and attempt to vote more specifically by positions, to better reflect the various offenses and defenses in the Mountain West.
Every team has at least one player on our two-deep, but players from eleven different Mountain West teams found a spot on our first-team roster. Boise State leads the way with seven selections. Utah State was close behind with six first-team nods, and San Diego State landed three on the first-team defense.
If you disagree with our choices, of course, feel free to let us know what you’d have done differently on Twitter.
This year’s voters: Jeremy Mauss, Matthew Kenerly (Fresno State), Raja Prabahala, Erik Smiley and Collin Clovis (Boise State); Josh Fredlund and Brad Hubbard (Colorado State), Brandon Blake (Nevada), Kyle Russo (San Jose State), Jesse Tachiquin (Wyoming), Tyler Perches and Ted McGovern (San Diego State)
