Ranking the Mountain West bowl games

Bowl games are a treat for the players and coaches but there also are financial stakes on the line. The better the bowl game means the better the payout. Being in the Mountain West means that payouts are great overall and there is only one that brings a seven-figures.

The lower payout is always a struggle and it is tough for the Group of Five teams to get a good bowl game and a good matchup. There are very few G5 vs. P5 matchups and the Mountain West currently has just one matchup in the bowl lineup on a year to year basis, but that will change once the Las Vegas Bowl moves into its shiny new stadium in a few years. The next bowl lineup will be interesting.

Back to 2018, the Mountain West has two Power Five matchups and those bowls pay the most. The Las Vegas Bowl features Arizona State taking on Fresno State and the other is Boise State taking on Boston College in the First Responders Bowl and that one does not even pay out seven-figures.

Only way to make bank is to get to a New Year’s Six game, and here we go from lowest to highest payout.
