Down one team
San Jose State is being removed from our bowl projections and currently, no team will replace them in this Week 6 edition. The Spartans are still in bowl contention with their 3-3 record but the teams left are brutal which include San Diego State, Nevada, Fresno State, Utah State and UNLV. Ouf of that group there might just be two wins the rest of the way.
The falloff is unfortunate but maybe they can get Nick Starkel back soon and the offense can start humming along like last year.
The rest of the league is still meandering their way through the so-so bowl lineup within the conference. San Diego State is undefeated and ranked but they are far behind undefeated Cincinnati which is currently a top-four team, Coastal Carolina which is No. 15 and SMU is one spot ahead of the Aztecs at No. 23.
Getting eight teams to the postseason seemed like a stretch but it was fun while it lasted.
A New Year’s Six Bowl is still far off for San Diego State as is going undefeated which is very, very hard. ESPN’s FPI gives them just a 2.2% of winning the rest of their games.
