Are the Cowboys going bowling?
The Wyoming Cowboys defense was phenomenal in a 31-3 thrashing of the New Mexico Lobos. Andrew Wingard finished with 9 tackles and tied former New Mexico linebacker Carmen Messina as the leading tackler in MW history. The Lobos (3-9) were held to 83 total yards and were only able to gain 6 first downs.
The Cowboys struggled through the air, 4 of 17 for 41 yards, but easily overcame that with 366 yards on the ground. RB Nico Evans was day to day with an ankle injury but he finished the game with 19 carries for 142 yards and a touchdown. Xazavian Valladay led the Pokes with 192 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Cowboys are now 6-6 and are the 7th bowl eligible team in the Mountain West. The conference only has five bowl tie-ins so there is a chance the Cowboys could be left out of postseason play, and all they can do is now wait.
