UNLV’s chances for a bowl game took a big hit as they fell at home, 31-21, to BYU and the key reason was the Rebels rushing defense had one of its worst performances of the year by allowing Squall Canada to rush for 213 yards. BYU also was using third-string quarterback Joe Critchlow who was efficient at 14 of 22 for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Johnny Stanton had a huge game by going 20 of 33 for 325 yards with a pair of touchdowns but he also had a pair of interceptions.

Saturday, November 11

San Jose State at Nevada

Final score: Nevada 59, San Jose State 14

 Nevada -18.5, o/u: 67
Consensus pick: Nevada
Staff picks: 5-4

This was the Dameon Baber show as the defensive back tied an NCAA record with three returns. Baber had a pair of pick-sixes, one which went for 100 yards and a blocked punt.

The Nevada offense also had its share of big plays with a long fleaflicker pass which set up a Try Gangi score a few play later.

New Mexico at Texas A&M

Final Score: Texas A&M 59, New Mexico 14
Line:
 Texas A&M -18, o/u: 51.5
Consensus pick: Texas A&M
Staff picks: 8-1

This game was all Texas A&M as they scored the first 48 points and led 48-7 at the half. The Aggies were led by QB Nick Starkel who had 416 yards and four touchdowns before getting the second half off. The one highlight for New Mexico was the 100-yard kickoff return by Elijah Lilly.

Wyoming at Air Force

Wyoming 28, Air Force 14
Line:
 Air Force -3, o/u: 53
Consensus pick: Wyoming
Staff picks: 5-4

The Cowboys defense came to play and scored 21 points off of Falcons turnovers and that would be enough to propel them to victory and keep Wyoming in the running to win the Mountain Division. The real importance of this game is that Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen left the game with an apparent right hand injury. Craig Bohl did not comment on the injury and Allen was not available to the media after the game.

Boise State at Colorado State

Final Score: Boise State 59, Colorado State 52

Line: Boise State -6, o/u: 56.5
Consensus pick: Boise State
Staff picks: 2-7

There are plenty 28-3 jokes to be made as Boise State came back from 25 points, twice, to remain undefeated in league play by shocking Colorado State with the comeback win. Boise State could have won prior to overtime but there was a pick-six called back for roughing the passers and another near interception which was dropped and there was nothing but turf ahead of the Broncos defender.

Fresno State at Hawaii

Final Score: Fresno State 31, Hawaii 21
Line:
 Fresno State -10, o/u: 53
Consensus pick: Fresno State
Staff picks: 7-2

Fresno State used a scoring spree of 31 points in the second and third periods to defeat Hawaii. Bulldogs quarterback Marcus McMaryion had his most passing to touchdowns with four despite having a banged up right hand. The win for Fresno State gets them one step closer to winning the West Division.
