What are the oddsmakers saying about these match ups?
Late in the week we will look at odds and recent lines and make our best picks and bets. Odds courtesy of Vegas Insider.
In week nine of the college football season, the Mountain West continued to roll on. Nevada kept the Fremont Cannon, Fresno State upset San Diego State, and Wyoming’s offense finally broke out of their funk in a loss to San Jose State.
Last week we went 4-1 (Thanks Colorado State) and we are 31-26 overall for the season. We’ve got momentum on our side, lets keep it rolling.
Army @ Air Force (-2.5, O/U 37)
It’s a service academy matchup. Air Force has a chance to secure the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy with win over Army. Historical precedence dictates the under has a 75% chance of being correct. However, Army has shown the ability to shoot it out. I’m still going with history here.
Pick: Under
Colorado State @ Wyoming (+3.5, O/U 40.5)
Colorado State’s defense has been phenomenal this year. Wyoming’s offense not so much. With Wyoming’s offensive ineptitude and Colorado State’s inability to put the ball in the end zone once they reach the red zone, the under feels like a safe bet here.
Pick: Under
Utah State @ New Mexico State (+18, O/U 71)
This total is just begging you to take it. Both schools had a total of 82 points in their last game. Ironically, both games were against Hawaii. Now both schools have shown they can score points. Both schools have also shown they can’t stop opposing offenses. The over feels like a safe bet here.
Pick: Over

Boise State @ #23 Fresno State (-5, O/U 58.5)
Boise State’s offense finally woke up against Colorado State. Fresno State scored their second upset of the year, against San Diego State, and found themselves ranked in the College Football Playoff Top 25. This is a rivalry game, and anything can happen, but Boise State hasn’t shown me enough to make me think they can cover against this talented Fresno State squad.
Pick: Fresno State -5
UNLV @ New Mexico (-1.5, O/U 44.5)
This seems like a good chance for UNLV’s first win of the season and an opportunity for Marcus Arroyo‘s first win in his tenure as the Rebels head coach. However, New Mexico is coming off a bye week and has the momentum after beating Wyoming on the road two weeks ago.
Pick: New Mexico -1.5
San Jose State @ Nevada (-10, O/U 55.5)
I was going back and forth on the over/under for this game. On the one hand it seems low. On the other hand, the Spartans have shown the ability to slow some offenses. And then I thought, well Nevada will probably win this game anyway so let’s take the spread with it.
Pick: Nevada +10
#24 San Diego State @ Hawai’i (-7.5, O/U 46)
San Diego State is going to win this game, that is a fact. I’m taking the under here due to history. The under has hit in 9 of Hawaii’s last 13 games and has hit in six their last eight games against San Diego State. I think the Aztecs defense steps up and stops the Hawai’i offense.
Pick: Under
