San Diego State and Boise State are projected to square off in title game

With Mountain West media days just around the corner, the staff here at Mountain West Wire decided to put together a staff projection for the order of finish. This is sort of a power poll but not really as it is broken up by division.

If you have any issues with this feel free to yell at us over at our Facebook or Twitter pages.

We ranked these by point totals so first place earned six points, five for second and so on for each division. The top of the West Division was extremely tight and nearly a tie at the top. Both San Diego State and Fresno State split the first-place votes but there was one voter who put the Bulldogs second with UNLV taking the second place spot.

The Mountain Division was nearly unanimous for Boise State who took home all but one first-place vote and they were followed by a bit of a surprise with Colorado State coming in second.

We also predicted the players of the year for offense, defense, and special teams. Bold is the winner and the rest are who received votes.

Offensive player of the year

Brett Rypien, QB, Boise State

Juwan Washington, San Diego State, RB

Armani Rogers, UNLV, QB

Marcus McMaryion, Fresno State, QB

Lexington Thomas, RB, UNLV

Defensive player of the year

Andrew Wingard, S, Wyoming

Youhanna Ghaifan, DT, Wyoming

Jeffrey Allison, LB, Fresno State

Curtis Weaver, LB, Boise State

Carl Granderson, DE, Wyoming

Special teams player of the year

Juwan Washington, San Diego State, Returner

Avery Williams, Boise State, Returner

Dominik Eberle, Utah State, PK
