What are the oddsmakers saying about these match ups?
Late in the week we will look at odds and recent lines and make our best picks and bets. Odds courtesy of Vegas Insider and inputted at time of writing.
It’s Bowl Season. Throw the regular season record out of the window. Now we’re onto the second week of bowl season. We went 1-4 the first week. Lets get back on track so you can win some money and buy yourself some nice gifts for Christmas.
Eastern Michigan @ San Jose State (-3.5, O/U 52.5)
San Jose State’s defense has been decent this year. They’re allowing just over 330 yards per game, while only allowing just over 20 points per game. Eastern Michigan has managed to put points on the board this season, but they also haven’t been able to stop opposing offenses that well. Take the Spartans and the points here.
Pick: San Jose State -3.5
Liberty @ Toledo (-3.5, O/U 53.5)
.Hugh Freeze is gone to the SEC. The Flames will have their defensive coordinator leading them in this bowl game. This Toledo team can bring the offense, but they tend to be turnover prone. They’re thrown 15 interceptions and lost 10 out of their 20 fumbles. Look for Liberty to control the game with their defense.
Pick: Under
Western Kentucky @ South Alabama (-4.5, O/U 56)
You could also go with the over in this one. Both teams run high powered offenses with South Alabama running a more balanced approached. Western Kentucky hasn’t looked like the Western Kentucky of old, so look for the Jaguars to play to their strength on defense and take their shots on offense.
Pick: South Alabama -4.5
Baylor @ Air Force (+4, O/U 43.5)
The over/under on this game has dropped six points since it opened. That is mainly due to the inclement weather forecasted for Fort Worth, where it is expected to reach single digits. With the cold weather, Baylor playing in their rivals stadium, and Air Force’s ability to grind you down, taking the Falcons to cover looks like a promising pick.
Pick: Air Force +4
Louisiana @ houston (-7, O/U 56.5)
Even with this spread, this seems like a pick ’em type of game. Dana Holgerson is known to blow it in big situations. It’s a sort of home game for the Ragin’ Cajuns with this game being played in Shreveport. This is one of those game you should stay away from, but if you had to pick something taking Louisiana to cover is probably the one to go with.
Pick: Louisiana +7
Wake Forest @ Missouri (+1, O/U 59.5)
Both teams have hit the under in the majority of their games played this season, combining for a 9-15 record on the over/under. Wake Forest needs to run up the score if they want to win, but look for the Tigers to slow it down on offense and play a drag down, knock em out type of game to hit the under.
Pick: Under
Middle Tennessee @ San Diego State (-7, O/U 49.5)
Christmas Eve in Hawai’i, could it get any better? Can we get some exciting football to help tide us over? Maybe. Both teams have shown they can put points on the scoreboard when necessary. However, both teams have also shown they can throw a shut down defense out on the field. The over feels like the right pick. And who would’ve thought you’d say that for a San Diego State game?
Pick: Over
