Lobos vs. Falcons
Air Force is back on the football field after two weeks of COVID-19 cancelations and gets to the field at home vs. the New Mexico Lobos who are looking for their first win of the year.
The Falcons are seemingly healthy from injuries and past the majority of players having to sit out due to COVID-19 and/or contact tracing, but all they have been doing is practicing which they have done all fall as they had an early game vs. Navy.
New Mexico is having its own issues by setting up base in Las Vegas to be able to play a season and earn the revenue that comes with playing college football from its media rights partners.
For the Lobos to get its first win under the Gonzales-era the team needs to be aggressive and attack this Air Force team, and the new head coach felt the team did that vs. Nevada and was very confident in saying they were the better team in its loss to the Wolf Pack.
“We were the better team that screwed themselves up. They might have taken us lightly because they didn’t think the Lobos would beat them. But I promise you this, they won’t take us lightly next year.
“I promise you this, they won’t think it’s going to be easy, because them boys limped off the field. We had some guys who were beat up, too, but that’s the kind of game we want to play. We’ll build that reputation back. We may not be the best team in this league, but we’re going to be the most physical. And, eventually we are going to be the best team in the conference.”
Being physical is what needs to be done if New Mexico is going to beat Air Force.
One area that will be an interesting watch will be the Falcons linebackers vs. the Lobos offense. Air Force lost 10 starters from the defense and the linebackers took the biggest hit. This could be an area where the New Mexico tight ends and running game could have success.
Air Force’s ways to victory are simple with running the ball, making big plays and keeping the ball away from the opponents. The offensive line is healthy and while they do not have running back Kadin Remsberg there is plenty of depth with guys like Timothy Jackson who can lead the Falcons to a win on the ground.
