The Land of Enchantment proved not to be magical for the Air Force Falcons men’s basketball team tonight, as they fell to University of New Mexico Lobos, 87-58. Tonight was opening night for Mountain West conference games, and the Falcons drop its season opener.

The Falcons shot only 38 percent from the floor, with forward Lavelle Scottie seeing double digits with 12 points. Other top contributors came from the bench with forward Jonathan DeWane contributing with eight points, forward Ryan Swan with seven, and guard Pervis Louder with six.

A tenacious man-to-man defense kept the score from running away in the first half; however, heavy rotation and sharper shooting by the Lobos led to separation in the second half.

Air Force will play Fresno State next on the road on Saturday, December 30.
