What are the oddsmakers saying about these match ups?
Late in the week we will look at odds and recent lines and make our best picks and bets. Odds courtesy of Vegas Insider.
In week five of the college football season, the Mountain West got rolling into conference play. Hawaii pulled off the upset against Fresno State, UNLV is showing they are getting better, and Nevada pulled off a dominant win against Boise State
Last week we went 2-4 and we are 18-18 overall for the season. We’re fading since the start of the season, let’s see if we can’t get back on track this week.
Boise State @ #10 BYU (-5.5, O/U 57.5)
Boise State’s line shuffling cost them last week against Nevada. It’s going to cost them again this week against BYU. The offense’s inability to execute and the sudden drop in defense is going to cost the Broncos here. Look for BYU to cover easily.
Pick: BYU -5.5

San Jose State @ Colorado State (-2.5, O/U 45)
Nick Starkel’s status is still up in the air, although Nick Nash performed well last week, the CSU defensive front is going to cause problems this week. David Bailey looks to be in line for a return. Dante Wright’s status looks to be a game day decision. Look for the Rams to come out hungry.
Pick: Colorado State -2.5

Wyoming @ Air Force (-6.5, O/U 46.5)
History suggets the over for this matchup. These teams tend to alternate low scoring and high scoring games. And the last time these two teams played, it was a low scoring affair. Wyoming’s offense has a new look and looks to be on the right track to catching up with their defense. Air Force is Air Force and they’re going to run it down your throat.
Pick: Over

New Mexico @ San Diego State (-19.5, O/U 42)
New Mexico started the season hot, but they’ve faltered since. San Diego State got into the top 25 this week and look to maintain that momentum. I’m taking a shot on the Lobos here. I think something finally clicks this week especially since they get their receivers back from NCAA imposed COVID quarantine.
Pick: New Mexico +19.5
New Mexico State @ Nevada (-30.5, O/U 63)
I like Nevada’s offense to score a lot of points in this game. I don’t trust Nevada’s defense to prevent New Mexico State from scoring a lot of points. The Aggies have managed to keep games close, but that could change here. This game will most likely be a blowout, but I like the over here more.
Pick: Over
