Wyoming looks to find a replacement point guard
In stunning news on a late Tuesday evening, the Wyoming Cowboys received some tough news when star freshman guard Marcus Williams entered the transfer portal – last season, Williams averaged 14.8 PPG & 4.3 APG, while earning Mountain West freshman of the year honors, and now is searching for a new home for his college career.

A minimalist statement was released by Wyoming:
” We thank Marcus for his contributions to our program, and we wish him well in the future”- Head Coach Jeff Linder
It’s going to be impossible to replace Williams easily, but with how many point guard transfers are still in the portal and Hunter Maldonado‘s comfortability playing just about any position, we could see the veteran star for Wyoming lead the charge again next season.
Despite losing Williams and Kwane Marble, the Cowboys still are set to return Hunter Maldonado, Graham Ike, Kenny Foster and Xavier DuSell. All three were significant contributors this past season and will continue to be “leaders for Wyoming next season. Look for Jeff Linder to replenish some of the losses by adding some players from the Transfer Portal, or the JUCO route, where many guys are uncommitted.
