Rams were cold from the field in the first half

The Colorado State Rams looked to have some momentum coming from the loss to Nevada. That went away quickly as Wyoming jumped out to a 10 point lead four minutes into the game.

Coach Allen Edwards had the Cowboys play a matchup zone defense against the Rams. And CSU had no answer for it as the Rams didn’t make a three point shot in the first half.

Justin James was once again the star of the show. James, a senior guard from Florida, finished with 36 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. When he wasn’t burning the Rams with his shot, he was creating shots for his teammates.

The Rams hedged the screens and left Wyoming players wide open leading to 13 made threes for the Cowboys. James was joined in double figures by Trace Young, who finished with 13 points.

The Rams were led by J.D. Paige who finished with 22 points. Paige was joined in double figures by Nico Carvacho. Carvacho got himself another double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Carvacho continues to be the Rams best player. The Rams struggled at times during this game to get him touches. And it looked like CSU was lost at times facing the Cowboys zone defense.

The Rams need to put this game behind them quickly as they return to Fort Collins to host the San Diego State Aztecs on Tuesday. Wyoming heads to Logan, Utah to face the Utah State Aggies.
