Week 15 College Basketball Rankings: Nevada Drops In AP Poll

The coaches poll to keep Wolf Pack at No. 6

Associated Press has Nevada at seven

Being a mid-major team is tough for any school not named Gonzaga. The Nevada Wolf Pack have had a really good stretch of games where they have won by at least 15 points over their prior six games.

Despite the blowout wins, albeit over not the best competition, the AP voters dropped Nevada one spot to seventh and flipped them with went 2-0 this past week including a win over then-No. 19 Wisconsin.

The coaches poll kept the Wolf Pack at No. 6 but these rankings do not really matter all that much, or at all when it comes to NCAA Tournament seeding. That showed itself when Nevada was given a four-seed despite being a top-10 team in both major polls.

What will really change Nevada’s postseason seeding is earning as many quality wins as possible, but for them that is not going to easily happen as the schedule the rest of the way has only Utah State. Perhaps teams like Arizona State, BYU, Grand Canyon can get a few more wins to help the Wolf Pack’s cause.
