Who is the better bettor?

Now that you guys have chosen which bet you’re going to make, let’s take a look at the bets involved in this weeks challenge.

Here’s a reminder of how this is going to work for the rest of the season. The odds post will come out each week and I’ll make what I believe to be the best bets for each game. Four of the bets will be picked and we’ll tweet out a poll for you guys to choose which bet you believe is most likely to win. I’ll pick one of the other bets and each week we’ll recap the head to head as well as how each team did at the sportsbook. In the event of a cancellation of a game that was bet on, the next highest chosen bet will be made in its place.

The poll has ended and the bets have been placed. You guys ended up choosing the Nevada to cover against Utah State. Originally, I decided to go with the under in the Army-Air Force matchup. But with the postponement of that matchup, I have switched my bet to Fresno State -11.

Nevada -16.5

I like this pick, I like it a lot. Nevada has an offense, we all know this. The question mark for the Wolf Pack is whether their defense can match up. It almost cost them against Wyoming and UNLV’s offense got some confidence back last week as well.

Utah State has struggled out of the gate. They’ve averaging 10 points a game on offense and giving up over 500 yards a game on defense. Nevada will score in this game. It’s just a matter of whether the Aggies can keep up with them.

Fresno State -11

I don’t trust UNLV a lot right now. They need to show me something. The Rebels have been big underdogs in each of their games this season. Fresno State got caught out by Hawaii but came back in a big way last week against Colorado State. The Bulldogs still have something to play for.

Fresno State has the offense to cover this spread. UNLV’s defense hasn’t helped, but it’s the Rebels offense that has cost them against the spread this year. UNLV is only averaging 12.5 points per game and I don’t see that changing here. At the beginning of the week this bet was Fresno -12.5. It has dropped a little, to 11, but I still think the Bulldogs will cover.
