Expectations are high for Nevada
The USA TODAY preseason coaches poll is out and the Nevada Wolf Pack are ranked in the top 10 as they come in at No. 9. This is a few spots lower than where the Associated Press ranked the Wolf Pack which was at No. 7.
Both of these rankings are new bests for a preseason ranking for Nevada, and that means the expectations are high and they are for real. The Wolf Pack have a preseason All-American in Caleb Martin and in advanced numbers, KenPom has Nevada at six.
The highest rating for the Wolf Pack comes from CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander who puts Nevada at three in his overall rankings and makes the case for them as No. 1.
The season got off to a rocky start for the Wolf Pack as they struggled in a high-profile exhibition game against Washington where head coach Eric Musselman was not happy with the effort in the loss.
The actual season for Nevada gets going at home on Nov. 6 against BYU.
