The battle of the backup quarterbacks

What will decide this game?
When UNLV hosts New Mexico in this game they will be with backup Max Gilliam who is taking over for Armani Rogers who is out for six weeks with a foot injury. New Mexico is also officially with a new-ish quarterback the rest of the way with Sherion Jones the starter over injured Tevaka Tuioti.
The edge for the quarterback position goes to the Lobos because Jones has played a few games this year already while Gilliam is making his first career FBS start.
Look for UNLV to use its stable of running backs in Lexington Thomas, Charles Williams, and Xzaviar Campbell to help shoulder the load to help the new quarterback get his legs under him. Gilliam does not have the same mobility as Rogers but he still can do a few things with his legs when looking back at his junior college film.
Jones will need to protect the ball and not throw as many interceptions if they want to not have this game turn UNLV’s favor with short fields to aid its offense.
