Answering the questions you needed answers.

To get ready for the upcoming Nevada football season we wanted to get everyone ready to know the team and answer the questions everyone wants to know from our staff.

What does a successful season look like for Nevada?

@BrandonGBlake A successful season for Nevada to me is the Wolf Pack taking another step towards competing for the West division in the Mountain West conference and improving in the win column. Nevada went from three wins in head coach Jay Norvell’s first season in 2017  to eight wins in 2018 and the next step should be nine wins.

@JeremyMauss – The Wolf Pack offense keeps getting better and better and the team is no longer a middle of the pack in the league. Beating a Power 5 team on the schedule would be helpful and that potential win might be over Purdue. Won’t be easy but it is possible to upset the Boilermakers.

What does an unsuccessful season look like for Nevada

@BrandonGBlakeFor me, the floor for this Nevada team when it comes to wins is six wins. So six wins or less to me is an unsuccessful season because it would show that the team has taken a step back from last season’s success.

@JeremyMauss – Missing out on a bowl game and rotating through multiple quarterbacks. This Nevada team has rotated and tweaked the quarterback depth chart in the past and that has caused players to leave the program.

Who is a player that no one is talking about that we should know now?

@BrandonGBlakeThe player that I feel that no one is talking about is Nevada cornerback Daniel Brown. Per Pro Football Focus, Brown is the top graded returning cornerback in the Mountain West at 78.1. Brown played all 13 games for Nevada last season and led the team in pass breakups with 12 (fifth in the Mountain West in 2018). Brown’s defensive play was a big part as to why Nevada’s defense improved in 2018.

Despite his stellar play for the Wolf Pack defense last season, Brown wasn’t listed on the preseason All-Mountain West team for 2019. Watch out for Brown in the defensive backfield for the Wolf Pack because he is going to anchor another good defense and you will see his name on the All-Mountain West team when the season ends.

@JeremyMauss – The secondary is the area for someone to break out and lead that position with so many new starters taking the field at that position and it is Berdale Robins. He had five pass breakups and an interception last year in a complementary role. Robins has the chance to get into that starting lineup.

What is the most important game of the year on the schedule?

@BrandonGBlakeIt is when Nevada travels to the California Central Valley on November 23rd to take on the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have won the West division the last two seasons and are replacing some key players on the roster this season. If Nevada is looking to advance to the Mountain West Championship game, they have to defeat the Bulldogs on November 23rd.

@JeremyMauss – It has to be a conference game especially if the Wolf Pack are going to compete for the West Division title. This game will be at San Diego State. The Aztecs will be one of the frontrunners for the title and going on the road will be a good test to see if this Nevada offense can breakthrough against a solid defense. If the Wolf Pack are able to defeat the Aztecs then it means that they are competing for that title.

What will be the record be this year?

@BrandonGBlakeI think Nevada’s record will be 8-4 with a 5-3 conference record

@JeremyMauss – Going off of my handy spreadsheet that I used during our preview podcast series, the Wolf Pack will have at 7-5 ad going to a bowl game.

Give us one bold prediction?

@BrandonGBlakeNevada wins the West division and plays in the Mountain West Championship game where they go up to Boise and defeat the Broncos 34-31 to win the Mountain West.

Sup Raja.

@JeremyMauss – Nevada will defeat Purdue in the season opener.
