The Aztecs had a bunch of All-MWC from last year’s team and only David Hensley returns. That’s a lot of gone talent. They had a good recruiting class so maybe a few of them will fill in the holes.
The rotation loses two top arms but returns some experience with starts under their collective belts. Closer might be a problem as the shutdown guy in Saylor is gone. Jorge Fernandez has some experience there and he might fill it if another arm shows up as a starter. Pitching is in pretty decent shape.
Coach certainly helped out and paid me a big complement. He said I was pretty close. Kinda like that hand grenade thing. But I did get a couple. Chad Bible comes off a year where he had 22 AB’s for the Aztecs but then redshirted as he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma so he’s a survivor. Think he’ll appreciate being in the lineup? The kid can hit the long ball so we’ll see. I’m wondering if a 6’6″ third baseman can make the shift to shortstop.
