San Jose State takes on Air Force in its conference opener and is looking for its second win of the year. This will be a tough one for the Spartans because they have just been so bad over the past few years and the one thing they are not great at is stopping the run.
The Falcons will utilize its typical offense and run the ball a lot and will have success moving the ball down the field. To be fair, the Spartans rushing defense has improved from last year and is no longer an extreme liability. However, taking on a run-option team will be tough.
The Spartans do not need to shutdown that ground game completely but they need to limit the explosive plays. Air Force will get its yards but the difference is those chunk yardage players of 15 or more yards.
This rushing attack by the Falcons vs. the Spartans rush defense will be the area to watch in this game and will very likely determine the outcome by who is more successful in the rushing game.
