San Diego State looks to avenge earlier loss to Falcons.
The San Diego State Aztecs are alternating wins and losses in conference play and recently beat the UNLV Rebels at home. Now they face off against the Air Force team that beat them in Colorado.
While alternating wins and losses means that the Falcons are going to sweep the Aztecs, one other thing comes into play, the Aztecs have not lost at home. Both teams are .500 in league play and are looking to run their record in conference above that mark.
San Diego State has been playing better since losing to the Falcons and that has started with Jalen McDaniels, who has won the last two Mountain West Player of the Week awards. Over the last eight games he is averaging 20.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, including five straight double-doubles. Besides McDaniels, Devin Watson (15.4 points) and Matt Mitchell (11.4 points) are scoring in double-figures.
The Aztecs will need a complete team effort to bounce back from a loss to Air Force where they only scored 48 points.
Air Force has been surprisingly competitive with double-digit wins over San Diego State, UNLV, and Boise State. Add in a close victory over San Jose State and the Falcons are flying high right now.
Lavelle Scottie leads the way with 14 points per game, while Ryan Swan is the only other player in double-figures at 12.3 points per game. The Falcons will look to pick up their second conference road win at Viejas and top the Aztecs for a second time.
