San Diego State to face former league foe?
The revised Mountain West football schedule has been released and there were a few quirks which include Boise State and Air Force playing just seven league games compared to the eight that other teams are playing.
However, San Diego State has a notation that has its Dec. 12 as TBA. They are the only team on the schedule with that distinction.
It is interesting that the Aztecs have that open date and are not going to play eight Mountain West teams. Why the league is doing this is not 100 percent clear but it could be to give San Diego State a marquee non-conference opponent.
However, it is not hard to figure out who San Diego State could play and all signs point to having BYU on its schedule. This would allow the Aztecs to play a good team as the Cougars are currently 22nd in both the AP and Coaches Poll, and could give San Diego State a boost if they are to be in the running for a New Year’s Six game.
The two were originally to play at BYU on Nov. 14 but now it looks like the two could hook up on Dec. 12, also in Provo.
