The whole gang is back

One week after announcing its return to the gridiron this fall, the Mountain West Conference has officially unveiled the full slate of games that will get underway starting on Saturday, October 24.

Some games will be moved to Thursdays and Fridays throughout the fall in order to satisfy the conference’s television demands but, with a couple of exceptions, it looks like every team can expect to play a full slate of eight conference games.

Those exceptions? One is Air Force, which is set to kick off its own season with the first leg of the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy round-robin this Saturday against Navy and is set to travel to West Point for a date with the Army Black Knights on November 7.

San Diego State is another, as they will play just two Mountain division foes instead of three and play BYU to close out the regular season. Boise State is the third, as they will forgo its annual matchup with New Mexico to instead host BYU on November 7.

As a result, the Lobos are playing four Mountain division foes and one more West division team than usual, though it is worth noting that, at least for this year, the distinction between divisions has been erased. The top two teams by record will face off in the conference championship game, which is scheduled for December 19.

More details on exact dates and times for each regular season game should be made available in the near future.
