Lyle’s status is currently unknown at this time
New Mexico men’s basketball opened practice earlier this week, and it appears the Lobos might already have an injury on their hands.
UNM point guard JaQuan Lyle, now eligible after transferring from Ohio State and sitting out the 2017-18 season, was seen in a walking boot during the New Mexico football game against Liberty on Saturday.
An image below from The Lobo Lair showed the boot Lyle was wearing during the game:
Albuquerque Journal’s Geoff Grammer commented shortly after the images and videos were posted on Twitter, saying Lyle had injured himself during Saturday’s morning practice. Grammer added that his status is unknown at this time and that the team “isn’t saying much right now.”
Lyle averaged 11.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game over two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes, starting 54 times. He figures to be a key cog in the Lobos rotation this upcoming season.
