New Mexico forward Carlton Bragg’s waiver has been denied by the NCAA, per a university release issued on Wednesday.

“Based on the documentation we have received thus far, we are shocked at the current outcome of his eligibility status,” New Mexico head coach Paul Weir said about the situation.

Bragg transferred to New Mexico after originally planning to suit up for Arizona State. Bragg’s career started at Kansas, where he played for two seasons. In 69 appearances with the Jayhawks, Bragg averaged 4.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Because of the NCAA’s decision, Bragg won’t be eligible to play in a regular season game until December 16 – a home matchup against Central Arkansas.
