The Broncos take a tough loss.
Boise State came into the game being 4.5 favorites on the road in Reno against the Pack. They came out losing 74-72, how did it happen?
It was a tight first half that ended with Boise State leading by five at 33-28, the half showed how close this one could be throughout.
Every single time Boise State went on a small run, Nevada responded instantly to avoid being in a bad spot. Nevada tied the game at 65 with 3:39 left on a K.J. Hymes jumper.
Emmanuel Akot hits a three to make it 70-67 with 2:42 left, before Desmond Cambridge tied the game in the ensuing possession.
A few empty possessions by both teams kept the game tied, Nevada ball with less than a minute left, then Grant Sherfield hits a shot to take the lead.
Boise wasn’t going down without a fight after RayJ Dennis hits shot to tie it with 31 seconds to go, leaving the game with the Wolf Pack possibly getting the final shot.
It turned out not being the final shot, but my oh my, was it a huge shot, Grant Sherfield hits a jumper to give the home Wolf Pack the lead with two seconds remaining. Ice in his veins.

Oh so close on the Dennis last second shot, ending the game with a heartbreaking two point loss.
What a game that was in the Lawlor Events Center, Nevada upsets Boise State, overall that hurts the Mountain West’s quests for a four-bid season. This currently falls as a Q2 loss for Boise State, not a bad loss, but not a loss you want to take, especially if Nevada falters dropping to a Q3 loss.

Grant Sherfield had a 20 point, fourteen assist game in this one, what a game for the potential conference POTY.
Derrick Alston Jr posted 23 points with five threes, along with Emmanuel Akot having 19 while adding four threes.
Game two on Sunday will be significant for Boise’s at large dreams this season.
