Mountain West has two bids this year

For the first time in year the Mountain West is a two-bid league after San Diego State upset Nevada in the Mountain West semifinals and then won the whole tournament over New Mexico to earn the auto-bid.

Nevada is going to get an at-large bid for its great season and has strong metrics, includinng an RPI of 18 and are in good shape.

We turn over to Bracket Matrix which has 84 brackets submitted to them and then the site takes the average to find out the field of 68.

Nevada comes in on the eight seed line with an average ranking of 7.77 with a high of a six seed and a low of an 11. This positioning would match them up with Kansas State. That eighth positioning seems about right for the Wolf Pack as they struggled down the stretch by losing to the Aztecs twice. Ideally, getting to a seven or 10 would help them the most if the Wolf Pack were going to make any sort of tournament run.

San Diego State is placed on the 12 seed line and its average rating is 12.04. The Aztecs highest seed is 11 and lowest is 14. This is a tad higher than my initial thoughts for the Aztecs, because a 13 or 14 would seem more accurate when looking at the season on a while. A 12 seed would be a good landing spot and the projected matchup would be against Ohio State.
