Ranking the players of the year this week
With just three games this week we had to dig deep to find the top seven players for the week with half of the league in action this past weekend.
There was no one singular dominant performance this week which is why of the seven players, six earned first-place votes and this makes the closest vote of the year among the top performers.
7. Romeo Doubs, Nevada, WR – 1 Point
Not every week can Doubs be at the top and have a 200-yard performance every single week in receiving yards. He did have a pair of receptions for over 50 yards receptions, including one for a touchdown.

6. Chevan Cordeiro, Hawaii, QB -2 Points
Cordiero had a great week under center against Boise state not only throwing the ball but running the ball too. He ended up with three passing touchdowns, 90 rushing yards, and 253 in the air. It was not enough to win but it was really good.
5. Dom Peterson, Nevada, DT – 3 Points
Peterson made his presence known in the second half with a pair of sacks against San Diego State and had a great showing in the Wolf Pack’s come from behind win over San Diego State. He ended up with four tackles, three for a loss and two sacks.
4. Andrew Van Buren, Boise State, RB – 4 Points
Van Buren finally had his breakout game with 113 yards, two scores and three catches. Eclipsing the 100-yard mark was the first time that Van Buren cracked the century mark.

3. Khalil Shakir, Boise State, WR – 5 Points
In that Hawaii vs. Boise State game, Shakir was the best receiver on the field with 130 yards on 11 receptions and found the end zone twice. Pretty good for the Boise State wide receiver who is having a great year but is somewhat being overshadowed by Nevada’s Romeo Doubs.
2. Darren Hall, San Diego State, DB – 6 Points
Hall had the distinction of gearing Nevada’s Doubs and did a pretty good job in the process. He also led the Aztecs in tackles with 11 with a tackle for loss. He had two passes deflected and the second led to an interception for San Diego State which nearly gave them the win.
1. Brad Roberts, Air Force, RB – 7 Points
Roberts is not the Air Force running back we all thought would be leading the way. He scored three times in the 28-0 win over New Mexico and did so on 177 rushing yards.
