Who will come out on top?
Watch list season rolls on with the release of the Davey O’Brien Award’s quarterbacks to watch. Given annually to the nation’s best signal-caller, there are two names among 30 from the Mountain West that should once again light up scoreboards around the conference this fall.

Utah State’s Jordan Love and Hawaii’s Cole McDonald, both of whom also made the Maxwell Award watch list yesterday, were certainly easy choices here. Love engineered an 11-win season for the Aggies by completing 64% of his passes for 32 touchdowns against just six interceptions, helping Utah State finish 20th by Passing S&P+.
McDonald, on the other hand, guided the Warriors and their run-and-shoot attack back into the bowl scene with 40 total touchdowns — 36 passing and four rushing — and a conference-best 4,234 yards of total offense despite battling some particularly unique injuries last fall.
Last year’s Davey O’Brien winner was former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.
