This game features two teams going in the opposite direction with Utah State riding a seven-game winning streak whereas Hawaii has dropped three in a row and is still looking to be bowl eligible.
This Warriors offense has taken a nosedive after its 6-1 start where it averaged 38 points per game, but during its losing streak, it is only scoring 21.67 points per game. Perhaps the opposing teams have caught up to the Hawaii run-n-shoot offense.
QB Cole McDonald‘s numbers have dwarfed what he did during the first month-plus of play and has only six touchdowns over his prior three games. That typically would be decent numbers but McDonald was averaging four per game in his prior six.
Also to consider is that the strength of schedule has improved quite a bit and these better teams are able to withstand this Hawaii attack, and also are able to score on a defense that is 11th during league play by allowing 6.9 yards per play.
The Aggies are rolling after a small blip against a Wyoming team and is scoring at will and getting its backups plenty of playing time in the second half.
Utah State might be even motivated more than normal after it was snubbed from being ranked in the first College Football Playoff polls. Perhaps the offense will be a bit more aggressive and try to run the Warriors off the field.
Stay up late and get on the WatchStadium app if you want to witness a lot of points scored.
