Hawaii’s offense will get a much-needed boost.
Hawaii’s offense looked very different with quarterback Cole McDonald sidelined last week in the 17-13 win over Wyoming with true freshman Chevan Cordeiro running the offense.
“I’m back,” McDonald said after Tuesday’s practice he said via the Honolulu-Star Advertiser. He also said that this was a game-time decision about his still undisclosed injury.
“It feels good,” McDonald said. “It’s nice to be out with the boys and throwing again. I just couldn’t get ready. My body needed some more time. So that’s what we decided.”

If Hawaii is going to go on the road against BYU and get the upset win — the Warriors are a 15-point under dog — they need McDonald to play. He has 24 touchdowns through six games and has been why the Warriors run-n-shoot offense.
The offense was drastically different vs. Wyoming and part of that had to do not only playing Cordeiro who was 19 of 29 for 148 yards to go alongside a pair of touchdowns and an interception. To give credit to Cordeiro, he threw the game-winning score which was a 38-yard touchdown pass on a broken play to improve to 6-1.
With McDonald back, the Warriors should be feeling more confident in defeating BYU.
