PREVIEW: Fresno State looks to start the season off with a big upset as they take on #14 Oregon on the road. The Bulldogs are playing their first official game without last year’s leading scorers Deshon Taylor and Braxton Huggins, but they certainly aren’t threadbare. Forward Nate Grimes is one of the league’s best big men, while Noah Blackwell and New Williams could thrive in much larger roles this season. Their development will be put to the test from the opening tip against a dangerous Oregon team.

The Ducks are favorites to win the Pac-12 this season, coming off last season’s Sweet 16 appearance. Led by senior point guard Payton Pritchard, Oregon is almost sure to improve upon last year’s 12-seed in the Big Dance. The Ducks also brought in some good supporting pieces this offseason, including former Mountain West standouts Shakur Juiston (UNLV) and Anthony Mathis (New Mexico).

The Bulldogs caught a break when heralded Oregon recruit N’Faly Dante was ruled out until at least December after failing to secure eligibility ahead of the season. Justin Hutson’s squad will need all the help they can get if they are going to knock off a ranked team on opening night.
