After a week full of chasing the story about whether Nevada’s Eric Musselman was in Reno or Fayetteville surrounding the rumors of him being a candidate for the Arkansas job, well it is finally settled that Musselman is the new head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Musselman has been a hot coaching prospect after he took Nevada in 2015 and raised the Wolf Pack profile quickly as he took over a nine-win team to winning the CBI and 24 games in year one. He then went to three-straight NCAA Tournaments and a Sweet 16 apperance in 2019.
He built the Wolf Pack roster off of transfers from other programs and turned Nevada into one of the best programs in the West in a short time, but he also could recruit as he brought in former five-star Jordan Brown in the 2018 recruiting cycle.
It really was a matter of time before Musselman would take a more high profile job that also would easily double, if not triple, is income.
“I want to thank Eric Musselman for four thrilling seasons with the Wolf Pack and for elevating the Nevada men’s basketball program to the top of the Mountain West Conference,” Nevada athletic director Doug Knuth said in a released statement.
“We wish Eric and Danyelle nothing but the best moving forward. We will immediately begin a national search for the next leader of the Wolf Pack men’s basketball program and will have no further comment until that search is completed”
Musselman’s overall record was 110-34 overall including a gaudy 52-17 record in Mountain West games in Reno. He also three Mountain West regular-season titles, and one Mountain West tournament title.
Those accomplishments make Musselman the most accomplished coach in Nevada basketball history. His replacement will have a lot to live up to but it also shows that if the next coach wins they can expect huge fan support and a full Lawlor Events Center on a nightly basis.
One other note for the next Nevada head coach is that this team must replace all five starters from this past season. There is a lot of talent on this team, assuming there is no exodus of players, but a new core will need to be found.

“My family and I couldn’t be more excited to be coming to the University of Arkansas. The opportunity to be a part of the rich tradition of Razorback Basketball and to experience the passion of the Razorback fans is something that I am very much looking forward to,” Musselman said in a statement.
“I am appreciative of the professional manner in which Hunter Yurachek conducted the search and am grateful for the support of Chancellor Steinmetz and all of those affiliated with the University of Arkansas. I am ready to get to work with our student-athletes to prepare our program to compete at the highest level of college basketball.”
