The Colorado State Rams are coming off a loss to Boise State in which they struggled for a good portion of the game, but almost came back and won. The Rams started hot, but went ice cold during the middle portion of the game.
Nico Carvacho is going to be the key for the Rams once again. He nearly matched a career high in points when these two teams met earlier this season. He went for 27 points in that game and fell one rebound short of a double-double.
The height advantage will usually fall to Colorado State in this matchup and they need to take advantage of that. The Rams have done a good job of not turning the ball over this season and that will need to continue.
The Rams cannot fall into a lull as that is what cost them the game against Boise. They also need constant movement of the ball. When the Rams get stuck, they tend to revert to isolation plays and that usually doesn’t work in their favor.

The Air Force Falcons can thank the Boise State Broncos for a key to defending the Rams. CSU struggled against the Broncos 2-3 defense and Air Force should do well to implement that defense against the Rams.
Ryan Swan and Lavelle Scottie are the Falcons best players. Scottie went for 20 points in the last matchup with the Rams and is always a threat to score. Swan is Air Force’s big man. He may be on the smaller side, but plays bigger than he is.
The really big key for the Falcons will be to get the other players involved. When others get involved, Air Force has a better game. The Falcons struggle when they solely rely on Swan and Scottie.
The Rams will look to get another win so that they can try and avoid a first round matchup in the Mountain West tournament. The Falcons look to continue to surprise teams and play their way towards a top seed in the Mountain West tournament.
