The Rams starting QB position is up for grabs

If Collin Hill had been healthy during fall camp, there would have been a battle for the Colorado State starting quarterback position between Hill and K.J. Carta-Samuels. However, Hill had retorn his ACL and Carta-Samuels was named starter over J.C. Robles and Justice McCoy.
Head Coach Mike Bobo called the CSU offense inept after practice Wednesday, according to Kelly Lyell of the Fort Collins Coloradoan. “We’re 1-4, and we’re not playing good enough,” Bobo said. “It’s been a competition this week at every position.”
The usually high powered Rams offense has hit a wall this season and coach Bobo opened all positions for competition. The running game is averaging 92.6 yards per game and the passing game has been inconsistent. Something needed to be done.

Carta-Samuels had the following to say about the competition: “I feel very confident in my own abilities, and I feel like I should be the guy and that I can play, but you know, that’s not up to me.” And Hill had his own thoughts as well: “I can’t read coach’s mind, but I’ve just got to keep getting better, keep doing the things that they coach us to do.”
Coach Bobo also took over play-calling duties again. He took over during the second half against the Rams loss to Illinois State. “My stamina’s better,” Bobo said. “I’m not as fatigued as much, so I’m able to stay later. I’m feeling like I’m putting more attention in that room.”
The Rams get a light start to the Mountain West portion of the schedule with San Jose State and New Mexico. Whether the schedule or the changes implemented by head coach Mike Bobo help, remain to be seen. The only thing we can say with certainty, at this time, is that this is a disappointing season for the Rams and Rams’ fans.
