Dane Kuiper had a big finish to New Mexico’s Senior Night
Derrick Alston and Justinian Jessup led all scorers with 23 points, but the lofty point production from the Boise State (6-11 MW) duo was ultimately not enough to close out a close second half against New Mexico (7-10 MW) at The Pit.
Corey Manigault (19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block) led the way in scoring for New Mexico (7-10 MW), but it was senior Dane Kuiper that sealed the win for the Lobos.
The Broncos had a chance to take the game with five seconds remaining after two missed free throws from Carlton Bragg, but were unable to get a shot off, as New Mexico’s Dane Kuiper stole the ball from Alex Hobbs, completing the heads up play by throwing it back in bounds as time expired.
For the third straight game New Mexico has out-rebounded an opponent, taking advantage of being one of the tallest teams in the nation. The Lobos also blocked six shots, five of which came in the first half.
Boise State has now lost six games by seven points or less in conference play, four of which were decided by four points or less.
