Air Force gets sixth win of the season, first in the Mountain West

One team came into the game with five total wins, and four against D1 opponents, based on the game it would be hard to identify the Falcons as that team. Air Force played their game and slowed San Diego State down en route to a 62-48 victory.

The first half was a sluggish affair as the Falcons slowed the game down, using most of the shot clock on every possession. Essentially Air Force played the game at their pace and shot well enough to take a lead. San Diego State did their part by shooting 22.7% from the field, including 0-7 from the field, and turning the ball over seven times. The end result was a 28-14 lead for the Flacons.

The second half was an even affair as the both team scored 34 points and shot around 50%. Playing even was good enough for the Falcons, but not for the Aztecs. San Diego State was able to put a run together late to bring the lead down to six, but each time the Falcons had an answer and the Aztecs unraveled towards the end.

AJ Walker led Air Force in scoring with 19 points, including 5 three-pointers. Lavelle Scottie (16 points and 11 rebounds) and Ryan Swan (15 points and 15 rebounds) both finished with double-doubles and were the only other Falcons in double figures. The victory was the first for Air Force in Mountain West play.

Jalen McDaniels led the way for the Aztecs with his on double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds). He was about the only bright spot for the Aztecs as they ended the game shooting 11.8% from three-point range and 38% from the field.
