The nation’s eyes turn to the islands on Christmas Eve.

After a year away because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EasyPost Hawaii Bowl finalized its matchup today by announcing that the Hawaii Warriors would stay home and play the Memphis Tigers, who’d been announced as the American Athletic Conference’s representative on November 29.

First broken by the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, Hawaii, who finished the regular season with a 6-7 overall record, becomes the first Mountain West team to learn its bowl destination despite some high-profile depatures to the transfer portal in recent days, as well as a “town hall” meeting of current and former Warriors players on Twitter earlier this week in which a number of concerns were aired about head coach Todd Graham and some of his assistants.

Nonetheless, the Hawaii Bowl’s return from a yearlong hiatus will see the game restored to its customary slot on Christmas Eve. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, kicking off at 3:00 PM local time and 5:00 PM Pacific/6:00 PM Mountain.
