Air Force Handles the Lobos 38-10
The Falcons Notch Their First Division Win of 2021

If you wondered which would give, the nations top rushing attack which belongs to Air Force, or the New Mexico run defense which is allowing just 77 yards per game; it was the Lobos relenting, and it wasn’t particularly close. The Falcons nearly ran up that New Mexico season average in their first possession.
The Falcons imposed their will, running over and around Rocky Long’s defense, which isn’t something the esteemed defensive coordinator is used to. The Air Force defense wasn’t any kinder, making things even harder on New Mexico by forcing multiple turnovers which contributed to the 24-0 first half hole they found themselves in.
Things didn’t get much better the rest of the way, as that first half dominance propelled the Falcons to another battering of the Lobos. More importantly, the 38-10 victory puts Air Force in the Conference win column, and still in the hunt for a Mountain Division title.
Beyond the generalized battering of New Mexico that has be described, there were a few things worth highlighting. We got to see a lot of now sophomore, and former prized offensive line recruit, Adam Karas. He wore number 85, rather than his normal number 59, and was utilized as more of an in-line blocking tight end.
Speaking of the offensive line, despite a merry-go-round rotation of players due to injury, this unit continues to impress. The Diesel’s up front epitomize plug and play, and with no dip in production, one can’t help but to be impressed.
Brandon Lewis had a fantastic over-the-shoulder pass that Haaziq Daniels dropped in the bucket. What’s so impressive about this catch is how casual Lewis made it look along the sideline. A talented and selfless player, number 13 continues to impress.
Lastly, it was like watching 2020 graduate slot back, Ben Petersen the way Jordan Gidrey and Dane Kinamon were blocking out of the backfield. The value of this execution and selfless play can’t be overstated.
Plenty of positive things to point to in today’s victory, but Air Force can’t celebrate too long as a serious step up in weight class awaits the Falcons in Laramie.
Next up is a matchup with a very impressive Wyoming Cowboys team.
