Nevada came up short in a late Friday night matchup

Jaylen Fisher had 20 points and three other Horned Frogs finished in double figures as #20 TCU knocked off #22 Nevada 84-80 Friday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The third and final game of the Hall of Fame Classic was interesting down the stretch, as the Wolf Pack trimmed a 16-point second half TCU lead down to two possessions in the final minutes, but Nevada couldn’t manufacture enough stops and scores to complete the comeback.

Cody Martin led all scorers with 27 points off 10-13 shooting, also adding 11 rebounds and six assists for an impressive double-double. Jordan Caroline (21 points) and Caleb Martin (17 points) also had double-digit scoring.

Nevada fell into an early hole and played from behind the entire night. The Wolf Pack did not maintain a lead after holding an advantage for almost every instance of its first eight games. TCU held a 45-34 lead at the break and didn’t look back. A total of ten missed free throws and untimely turnovers and easy baskets did Nevada in during the second half.

After a winless week, Nevada (8-2) will pick up the pieces next Sunday at home against Radford. The Wolf Pack then close with UC Davis, Southern Illinois and San Francisco in the non-conference portion of the schedule.
