Nevada Explodes Offensively to Advance to the Semifinals
Nevada is led by their explosive back court to blow past the Boise State Broncos 89-82. Desmond Cambridge had the highest point total since playing in the blue and silver with 31 points on 11 from 19 from the field. Cambridge also went a solid 50% from beyond the arch.

The other side of Nevada’s one-two punch was Grant Sherfield who had 26 points of his own. Nevada’s backcourt combined for 57 of the Wolf Pack’s 89 points. Warren Washington also played outstanding, tying his second highest point total of the season with 18 points. Washington also had 11 rebounds giving him his third double double of the season.
Boise State also played well offensively shooting 51% from the field while making seven of their 18 three-pointers. The Broncos were led by Devonaire Doutrive who had a double double of his own. Doutrive had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Other Bronco’s in double digit points were Derrick Alston with 16, Emmanuel Akot with 15 and Ray J Dennis with 10. Derrick Alston, who played his final game in the blue and orange, just couldn’t give enough to propel Boise State past the Wolf Pack.

Since Washington won the opening tip, it was Nevada’s game. Boise State never led in this game and there wasn’t once where the game was tied. Both teams seemed as if they couldn’t miss as Nevada shot a blistering 69% from beyond the arch while the Broncos made 16 of their 23 shots before the break.

Both teams must have focused on defense in the locker room as neither team shot above 50% from the field in the second half. Nevada failed to make a three in the second half but still was able to hold off the Broncos mainly in part because of Nevada’s rebounds. Nevada had 11 offensive rebounds and finished with seven more total rebounds than Boise State.
Seeing Cambridge explode for 31 points was a welcoming sign for Nevada fans. If the back court keeps performing and the Wolf Pack has a solid third option to step up as Washington did, this Nevada team is going to be a force to be reckoned with down the road.
