A do-it-all athlete.
The Boise State defensive backfield remains loaded heading into 2018, so it should come as no surprise that a third member of that secondary, cornerback Avery Williams, has found his way back into our countdown of the conference’s top players at #28.

Williams’s 2018 wasn’t without some challenge, though, as he played through injury off and on throughout his sophomore season. Despite the aches and pains, however, he finished the year with nine pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two interceptions, as active a part as ever for a defense that created the third-most takeaways in the Mountain West.
He also continued to contribute on special teams, as well, averaging seven yards per punt return, which helped him land on the Hornung Award watch list for the second straight season. With a clean slate of health, Williams could certainly be in for a big year as one of the conference’s most well-rounded athletes.
