Another chance to get featured.

The East-West Shrine game is yet another chance for Mountain West players who are looking to make it to the next level and latch onto an NFL roster or get drafted.

The Senior Bowl is the best of the best and there are three Mountain West players in attendance there, but the Shrine Game has had plenty of successful future NFL pros.

The Shrine game does feature some of the smaller schools with a mix FCS top-tier talent and also plenty of Group and Power 5 schools who get drafted and make a name in the NFL.

The Mountain West has five players heading to this game:

The importance of this week is not the game itself but the practices which are run by NFL staff and a lot of scouts, agents, and NFL personnel are on tap to get an up close look at these players.

One player who is getting early publicity is Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien. The Draft Network felt that Rypien was a Senior Bowl snub and they are extremely high on the four-year starter and because he has a high

The Boise State quarterback took what was promising, but low-ceiling film in 2017 and turned in a generally elevated 2018, in which he made tougher throws with better velocity, showed off improved mobility, and produced accordingly: 67.3 comp%, 8.3 Y/A, and a 30:7 TD to INT ratio.

There are legit concerns with Rypien that can’t be avoided: he doesn’t have a super deep ball in terms of arm strength, and his pocket presence tends to leave me wanting at times. He trusts his accuracy too much at times and tests downfield windows he shouldn’t, which leads to a more risk-prone style of play than you’d expect from a passer of his mold.

They go on to add that he has a high-floor quarterback and with there being a weak class in 2019, especially if Justin Herbert and Dwayne Haskins return in school, could mean that Rypien is a potential riser if he has a good week at the East-West Shrine Game.

This game takes place in St. Peterburg, Florida, on Jan, 19 at 3 p.m. ET and will air on the NFL Network.
