Three Keys to a Wyoming Win
Effective running game
The Craig Bohl Cowboys have a very obvious formula to success, run the ball on offense and force turnovers on defense. When Wyoming does these 2 things, they generally win. The backfield has been very strong this season. Xazavian Valladay returns to the top of the depth chart this week while Trey Smith is coming off of the best game of his career against Idaho.
Freshman Titus Swen has added a dynamic third runner to the team. This might finally be the week the Cowboys have to show they can throw the ball but make no mistake, the only reason the Pokes will be passing is to allow the running game to continue to dominate.

High percentage passes
The passing game has been atrocious this season. For context, Tulsa is averaging 225 passing yards/game. Sean Chambers has 245 passing yards for the season. The more concerning number is the 39% completion percentage from the Cowboys signal-caller. The Cowboys will continue to be a run-first attack but they’re currently ranked 106 out of 130 teams in yards per attempt. Chambers and the offense have to make their limited passing attempts worth something and they can do simply by completing more passes.
Show up for the first quarter
Wyoming has been outscored 24-0 in the first quarter this season. Yes, it’s a 4 quarter game but the Cowboys don’t have an explosive enough offense to continue to overcome the head starts they are handing out to their opponents. Even if they don’t score points, a long 5-6 minute drive to start the game would be a step in the right direction for this team.
